Afrobeats superstar Davido has offered a glimpse into the private lifestyle of Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, revealing that the billionaire lives far more modest than most people would imagine.
Speaking on the EarnYourLeisure podcast in the United States, Davido, whose family has longstanding ties to the Dangote business empire, said the Nigerian mogul's consistent message to him over the years has never changed.
"Anytime I see uncle Aliko he always tells me, 'David, save your money, save your money.' He tells me the same thing since I've been a baby," he said.
But it was Davido's revelation about Dangote's personal lifestyle that caught listeners off guard, with the singer expressing genuine amazement at how little Dangote indulges in outward displays of wealth.
"The crazy thing to me is just how normal they live their lives. I don't think Dangote has bought a new car in 20 years. He drives a 2005 G-Wagon," he said.
The comments have sparked widespread discussion online, with many drawing comparisons between the understated lifestyle of billionaires and the flashy displays of wealth that have become common among celebrities and young entrepreneurs across the continent.
