Ghanaian actress Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu has announced a personal donation of GH¢50,000 towards veteran actor Kwadwo Kwakye Obuobi’s medical expenses as he battles a severe kidney condition.

Speaking on the actor's plight, Mercy Asiedu said, "I'm here to donate GH¢50,000 to support him. We need about GH¢700,000 for his kidney transplant. I trust and believe that we will all come together and support him.”

She added, "When God touches your heart, we would accept every penny you bring. He needs to stay alive to continue the good work he's been doing over the years. He's a member of my production, and we've done a lot of work with him. We can't just watch and not do anything to save his life,” she noted.

Speaking in a viral video from the hospital on July 13, 2026, the actress revealed that the actor urgently needs to be flown abroad for a kidney transplant.

According to her, the burden of financing the actor's treatment cannot be borne by one person, hence the need for Ghanaians and well-wishers to come together to save his life.

"Our brother Kwadwo Kwakye Obuobi is at the hospital now. I cannot handle the kind of illness he is battling alone. He needs support from all of us. We have to come together and save his life," she pleaded.

Mercy Asiedu stressed the importance of supporting people while they are still alive, noting that Kwadwo Kwakye Obuobi has contributed immensely to Ghana's entertainment industry and deserves help in his time of need.

"We should be able to help people while they are still alive. The sickness he's battling with is so serious that he needs urgent support and to be flown abroad for treatment. I'm pleading with anyone watching me to let's help him because he's also a property of Ghana. He has entertained Ghanaians before," she said.
