Parts of the late Ghanaian inventor, industrialist, and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s final will have surfaced, revealing detailed instructions on how he wished his funeral to be conducted and how his family should be organised after his death.

The will, dated August 25, 2022, and prepared by lawyer Asamoah Amoako, contains directives regarding his burial, funeral arrangements, and the leadership of his family.

Among the most striking instructions is his directive that none of his maternal family members should have authority over his body, burial, or funeral arrangements, although they are permitted to attend the ceremony.

“I direct that none of my maternal family members shall have any say or control over my body, burial, and funeral. They can only attend the funeral,” the will stated.

The late inventor also made it clear that he did not want any form of state-assisted burial or funeral in his honour.

“I direct that I shall not be given or accorded any state burial or state funeral,” the will said.

In addition to his funeral arrangements, Apostle Kwadwo Safo named his son, Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, also known as Israel Kwadwo Safo, as the head of the paternal family he established during his lifetime.

He directed all his children to recognise and honour him as their father and family head while urging his chosen successor to equally treat them as his own family.

“I direct that all my children shall henceforth consider my son Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, aka Israel Kwadwo Safo, as their father and the head of the paternal family that I have established in my lifetime. They shall give him due honor, obedience, and love as their leader, father, and head, and Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, aka Israel Kwadwo Safo, shall also consider them as his own family members,” the will added.

Apostle Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Kantanka, passed away on September 11, 2025, leaving behind a legacy as one of Ghana’s most celebrated inventors, industrialists, and religious leaders.

His funeral will be held over three days, beginning on July 30, 2026, with a burial service at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region.

According to the official funeral arrangements released by former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo, together with the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Funeral Planning Committee, a national farewell ceremony will be held at the Independence Square in Accra on July 31, 2026.

The event is expected to attract government officials, traditional leaders, church members, industrialists, and admirers from across Ghana and beyond.

The funeral rites will conclude on Saturday, August 1, 2026, with a thanksgiving service at Jackson Park in Kumasi to celebrate the life, achievements, and enduring legacy of the renowned inventor.
