Nigerian actor and musician Nasboi has shared his thoughts on how Ghana can further improve its creative arts industry, particularly in the areas of music and film.

Speaking in an interview on Hits FM, Nasboi acknowledged that Ghana’s music industry is performing well but believes there is still room for growth.

According to him, the Ghanaian artiste currently making the biggest impact in Nigeria is Black Sherif, whose music has successfully crossed into the Nigerian market.

“The biggest Ghanaian artiste when it comes to music in recent times is Black Sherif. The music that has really cut across is Black Sherif’s music,” he said.

Nasboi stressed that Ghana’s success in Nigeria’s music scene should not be limited to Black Sherif alone. He encouraged more Ghanaian artistes to create music capable of reaching wider audiences across Africa, particularly in Nigeria.

Touching on the movie industry, Nasboi recalled a time when several Ghanaian actors enjoyed massive popularity in Nigeria.

He mentioned stars such as Jackie Appiah, Yvonne Nelson, Yvonne Okoro, Majid Michel, and John Dumelo as examples of Ghanaian actors who successfully penetrated the Nigerian market.

“We used to have a lot of you people come to our market and succeed. We were in Nigeria, and we heard of Jackie Appiah, Yvonne Nelson, Yvonne Okoro, and John Dumelo,” he stated.

He, however, expressed concern about the visibility of Ghana’s current crop of actors, noting that he could not readily mention five new Ghanaian actors making significant waves internationally.
