Principal and Director of Creative Minds Academy, Alberta Mensah, says she raised her children without corporal punishment, relying instead on love, trust, and open communication.
Speaking at the second edition of Convergence of Mothers, organised by media personality MzGee, Mensah revealed that she never caned any of her children, including music executive Richie Mensah and his brother, Albert Mensah.
According to her, children are more likely to respond positively when they feel loved and understood rather than intimidated.
"I never caned any of my children," she told participants.

Mensah explained that she intentionally built close relationships with her children from an early age, creating an environment where they felt comfortable discussing sensitive issues with her.
"I knew when they were going to lose their virginity. They told me. They could speak to me about anything," she said.
She noted that the trust she developed with her children influenced their decision-making even as they grew older.
"If Richie was going to do something, he would think about whether his mother would be happy with it," she said.
For her, effective parenting is not about fear but connection, adding that children who feel secure and loved are more likely to seek guidance from their parents.
