The husband of the late Beverly Afaglo, Eugene Baah, popularly known as Choirmaster, broke down in tears while recounting cherished memories of his wife during her one-week remembrance vigil.
Reflecting on how he first met Beverly, Choirmaster recalled that he had parked his car behind hers at the beach, where he was scheduled to perform.
According to him, Beverly approached him and asked him to move his car so she could leave.
“I was supposed to perform at the beach, and at that time I had parked behind her, so she was looking for who did that. Someone directed her to me, so she approached me and said, ‘Hey, are you the one driving that car? You blocked me, so can you move so I can…’” he recounted.
He said he then told Beverly that moving his car would come at a cost, her phone number. Beverly smiled, and that moment sparked their conversation, leading to an exchange of contacts.

“And I was like, before I move my car, it’s going to cost you your phone number. She smiled and then started the conversation. Fast forward, we exchanged contacts. Everybody drove off, and we kept on talking.
“We had our first night out. That was great. We had our first kiss. After I proposed, everything was nice. Fast forward, we got married. We had two beautiful girls,” he reflected.
Choirmaster recounted how their relationship blossomed into marriage and how they welcomed two daughters, Violyn and Kora.
He added that they had hoped to have a son and name him Sax, but that dream was not fulfilled before Beverly’s passing.
“We wanted to have a boy and name him Sax,” he said.
Describing Beverly’s character, Choirmaster said she was a go-getter, hardworking and confident.
He noted that she was also fiercely protective of her family and would not tolerate anyone crossing the line.
“She will not let you cross the line when it comes to her family. Don’t mess up. If you cross the line when it comes to her family, Beverly will tell you, ‘Hey, watch out,’” he added.
