Ghanaian musician Sista Afia has spoken out about snubs and expressed disappointment with the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board after her hit song Asuoden failed to secure a nomination.
Speaking in a recent interview, the singer revealed that she felt sabotaged after her song, which features award-winning musician Kuami Eugene, was left out of the nominations despite its massive popularity nationwide at the time.
According to Sista Afia, Asuoden became an instant hit shortly after its release, dominating airwaves and gaining widespread public attention within just two weeks.

“Asuoden really hurts me till now, that was when I realised there's a sabotage going on with me. In less than two weeks after I released it, the song was everywhere, but when nominations came out, Asuoden wasn’t in,” she said while reflecting on the success of the record.
The musician disclosed that she submitted several of her works for consideration in about eight different categories, including Best Vocal Performance and other major award slots. However, she was shocked when none of her entries received nominations.
She explained that the omission of Asuoden was what convinced her that there were deliberate attempts to sideline her from the awards scheme.
Sista Afia further noted that after the nominations were released, she questioned whether there was something extra she was expected to do beyond simply making good music and properly submitting her works.
She, however, stressed that she is not willing to compromise herself or engage in unnecessary favouritism just to gain recognition.
“I’m not the type of person to kiss asses. I do my work how I'm supposed to, so if that’s what it takes, I’m sorry because I don’t kiss asses,” she added.
