Before landing his global hit “Sugarcane,” Ghanaian singer Camidoh says he was simply trying to survive and stay consistent with his craft.
In a recent interview with Kafui Dey, the singer opened up about how the success of the song transformed not just his music career, but his personal life as well.
According to Camidoh, “Sugarcane” eventually became the breakthrough he had long worked for, helping him clear his debts while opening major international opportunities.

“Going with my own flow gave me 100 million plus, made me pay off my debts and all of that,” he revealed.
The singer explained that although the song later became a massive success, he initially had doubts about some creative decisions made during its promotion, particularly the Glitch session version.
“I was like, ‘Why did you put all the tune on my voice?’” he recalled asking his team at the time.
However, after being told he was “too much in his head,” Camidoh decided to trust the process and allow the session to be released.
That gamble paid off.
“It became the biggest Glitch live session on their platform,” he said.
The “Sugarcane” hitmaker also disclosed that the song surpassed 100 million views on YouTube before eventually climbing to about 145 million views.
Despite the overwhelming success, Camidoh said the hit record did not limit him artistically.
“It freed me. It opened the doors to the next chapter,” he shared.
The singer further credited part of the song’s success to his personal efforts online, noting that he consistently promoted the track himself through TikTok content and social media engagement.
“Every single day, camera in front of me, boom. I was just having fun with it,” he said.
