Ghanaian musician Captan, a former member of the defunct Militants group, has recounted how Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy was allegedly arrested by the Ghana Police Service during the early stages of his music career.
Speaking in an interview on Savage Room, shared on X and sighted by GhanaWeb on May 22, 2026, Captan claimed that Burna Boy was apprehended for allegedly smoking marijuana during a visit to Ghana.
According to Captan, he and dancehall artiste Shatta Wale played a key role in securing Burna Boy’s release from police custody.
“When the police arrested him, we were the ones who went to bail him out. He was smoking weed in Ghana.
Shatta Wale fulfills promise of surprising one of his Militants
“Thanks to Shatta Wale because he sent us to bail him out. We even rented a hotel for him and settled the matter,” he claimed.
Captan further alleged that he and other members of the former Militants group used to accompany Burna Boy to clubs during his visits to Ghana.
“I was in the studio when Shatta Wale and Burna Boy were recording. We used to take him to the club, and he would follow behind us like our small boy,” he added.
The video has since generated massive reactions on X, with several social media users criticising Captan over his remarks.
Some netizens described his comments as unnecessary, while others accused him of seeking attention by bringing up past events involving Burna Boy.
