Ghanaian actor and comedian Dr Likee has responded to criticisms surrounding the outfit he wore to the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) red carpet, stating that the look was intentionally designed to promote his upcoming comedy show at the O2 Indigo.
In a video shared on social media on May 21, 2026, Dr Likee explained that he expected Ghanaians to react to his appearance but was not bothered by the backlash.
“I knew Ghanaians would definitely talk, but I wore that outfit to promote my upcoming show,” he said.
He added that aside from the buzz, he naturally prefers wearing shorts because he feels more comfortable in them.
“Not just the promotion alone, but I wear shorts a lot. I’m much more comfortable wearing shorts,” he explained.

Dr Likee also pleaded with his fans not to insult or attack people who criticised his outfit, adding it’s all a part of show business.
“No one should insult anybody for criticizing me. I’m begging my loyal fans not to go after anyone or fight with anyone.
“We all understand that it’s a game and that’s how it’s played. If they didn’t talk about me for me to trend, my comedy show at O2 wouldn’t get any attention,” he stated.
He further noted that public criticism should not discourage entertainers, arguing that discussions and debates surrounding one’s appearance often contribute to success in showbiz.
“When people don’t criticize you, you will not go far in life. That’s why it’s called showbiz, so I’m really not bothered about what people were saying about my outfit,” he added.
