Scenes of jubilation broke out among supporters of the ‘Papa Shee–Akosua Serwaa’ faction on Wednesday, after a court formally recognised Nana Kwabena Brefo as the new Abusuapanin of the Ekuona Abusua, Daddy Lumba’s family.

In a video circulating on social media, the new Abusuapanin was spotted in traditional attire, surrounded by Papa Shee and other supporters who broke into song and celebration following the court's decision.

"We are serving a living God; there is nothing too big for Him," Papa Shee was heard saying amid the jubilation.

He was also seen saying that Nana Brefo would hold no grudges against any party in the family dispute.

“He will not hold anything against Akosua Serwaa, not against Wofa Opoku, not against Akosua Brempomaa, and not even against Papa Shee,” he said.

The Accra High Court granted an application filed by Kwabena Brefo to join the ongoing injunction case concerning the life celebration of Daddy Lumba on May 14, 2026.

Lawyers argued that Brefo’s role as acting Abusuapanin of the Ekuona Royal Family make him a necessary party, enabling the court to better understand the issues before it and avoid possible bias in the proceedings.

The case has since been adjourned to June 29, 2026, for further directions.

Team Legal Wives, headed by Papa Shee, Akosua Serwaa, and Akosua Brempomaa, celebrated the ruling as a significant victory in their ongoing legal battle over Daddy Lumba's legacy.

This is the latest development in a months-long legal and customary battle over leadership of the late highlife legend's family.

The Parkoso Chief, Nana Boakye Amponsah Okofroban III, confirmed the removal of former Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, popularly known as Tupac, via a ceremony held on March 11, 2026, and subsequently appointed Kwabena Brefo as family head.

The dispute is part of a deeper family feud that has engulfed Daddy Lumba's legacy since his passing in July 2025, including disagreements over funeral arrangements, burial decisions, competing memorial event plans, and control of his estate.
