Ghanaian comedian Funny Face has opened up about his time at a psychiatric hospital, revealing that the environment worsened his mental state rather than improving it.
Speaking on Joy Prime, Funny Face recounted that his time at the facility made him feel more mentally unstable than he already was at the time.
According to him, he had to behave like the other patients in order to gain their trust and communicate with them effectively.
“You don’t have to make them think they are mad. For you to get their trust, you need to act as if you understand them,” he said.

The comedian explained that some of the patients often shared stories about their lives before they were admitted, while others offered meaningful advice.
However, he noted that whenever they sensed someone was acting “normal” around them, they would distance themselves.
Funny Face further narrated an incident where a patient invited him to eat fufu, even though there was no food present.
“One guy said, ‘Funny, let’s eat fufu.’ There was no fufu, just the ground, and he was eating it. So in my quest to make them know that I understood them, I joined him. The nurses were also marking me as mad,” he recounted.
He added that situations like that made doctors and nurses perceive him as mentally unstable as well, although he insisted he was only trying to relate to the patients and make them feel comfortable.
Ah! Guy, how?? 😂
