Following criticism of Hajia4Reall presenting an award at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards, media personality Vida Adutwumwaa has defended both the socialite and TGMA organisers who included her in the night’s proceedings.
In a post shared on social media, she pushed back against those questioning why Hajia4Reall was at the awards show and even handed over a prize on the night.
She argued that the decision was a deliberate decision by the production team, not a personal campaign by Hajia4Reall herself.
"I do not think Hajia4Reall took herself there. The production had its reasons why it invited her. They probably felt that it would bring news," she said.
She pointed out that ever since Hajia4Reall's release from prison, no media outlet had been able to sit her down for a proper one-on-one conversation, making her presence at a high-profile platform like the TGMAs a legitimate news moment.
"True, she went to jail and has been released. But no one has been able to get her one-on-one to talk to her after her release from prison. And that is news. People would like to listen to what she has been up to," Adutwumwaa noted.
She also noted the curiosity around Hajia4Reall's rumoured romantic links with RNAQ amid reports of his divorce, stating that no one has been able to get her perspective on that either.
Did TGMA27 deliver?
The Burniton Music PRO also cited Hajia4Reall's history as a music industry figure, reminding critics that before her imprisonment, she was “one of the hardest-working artistes in the country.”
"She had released a 7-track album. Check out the quality songs in that album; she shot quality videos for every song on that album. Look at the heavy features on that album. She had songs with the likes of Stonebwoy, Efya, Shatta Wale and many others. It wasn't easy.
"She got herself a studio, a voice coach and people to help her transition from just a socialite to a musician. It wasn't easy," Adutwumwaa maintained.
She insisted that the music world is not foreign territory for Hajia4Reall, adding that her appearance at the TGMAs should not be a surprise.
Vida Adutwumwaa further called on the public to allow Hajia4Reall to integrate back into society, especially as she has served her time for her crimes.
"Allow Hajia4Reall to be. Allow her to function as a normal person and a citizen in the country with her rights. Even as a prisoner, she had rights, how much more as a citizen," she said.
