A video of Ghanaian Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has surfaced online following the arrest of some Chinese nationals by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) over allegations that they were producing mattresses and related products that did not meet approved specifications and quality standards.

On May 19, 2026, GhanaWeb reported that an operation conducted by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) led to the arrest of the Chinese nationals at the Jin Yuan Jia mattress manufacturing plant in Afienya.

According to the report and videos circulating online, the suspects were allegedly found operating in direct violation of a court order issued against the company in October 2025.

Following the arrests, LilWin took to social media to express concern about experiencing body pains after waking up in the morning.

According to the actor, the discomfort may be linked to a mattress he purchased not long ago, adding that it has an unusually hard texture compared to standard foam mattresses.

After raising concerns, LilWin was seen cutting the mattress covers in an attempt to determine whether his mattress was part of the products linked to the company recently shut down by the GSA.

To his surprise, he discovered that the mattress appeared to be made of plastic rather than the usual foam material.

“I have seen a video circulating online where Ghanaian authorities have shut down a company illegally operating in mattress production. The video I saw showed that the mattresses were actually rubber, similar to materials used in packaging new appliances such as televisions.

“After watching the video, I remembered I have been sleeping on a mattress, and every morning I wake up with body aches as though I have been beaten. So I decided to cut my mattress open to check if mine is also among them,” he said.

LilWin further appealed to the government and relevant stakeholders to properly investigate such products before they are approved for public consumption.

“Why would you use rubber as foam? I am pleading with the Ghanaian government to be cautious about such products, especially what we consume and use, because they can cause harm,” he added.
