During a recent discussion with Nas’ daughter, Destiny Jones, on her Heir Time podcast, Reginae Carter revealed that some private schools in Atlanta denied her admission because of her father, Lil Wayne’s lyrics.
Per Complex, Carter, 27, touched on the topic when she was talking about her experiences in school.
“I went to Christian school almost my whole life,” Carter said. “A lot of the private schools I wanted to go to — I’m not going to say the names — were blocking me because of what my dad was doing a lot of the time, because of the music he was making.”
“It was a lot of big schools in Atlanta, the biggest that rejected me,” she continued. “They rejected a lot of celebrity kids.”
Despite those rejections, Carter noted that she got it to a “certain extent.”
“But it’s like, I’m a kid and that doesn’t have anything to do with me. You shouldn’t judge me off of what my dad’s got going on,” she also said.
Carter and her father have a very close bond, and she has spoken highly of the award-winning rapper on several occasions. During a previous discussion with Toie Ashanti for the Heir Time podcast, the 27-year-old spoke about the women that her father previously dated.
“I was telling my friend the other day… how like I used to love Nivea,” she said. “I begged for Niv to come to my party. Like I used to dress like Nivea for my party.”
“Girl, I love Nivea. I love Trina. I love Solange… Yeah. He had a few. I love everybody,” she also said.
