Ghanaian rapper Amerado has cleared the air over claims that he has switched from rap to singing.
Speaking on United Showbiz, the rapper explained that he has not abandoned rap, but is simply exploring different genres of music, which he believes he is equally talented in.
According to him, rap has opened many doors in his career, allowing him to connect with industry legends such as Okyeame Kwame and other influential personalities he may never have met as a young artiste.

He added that singing has also brought him financial rewards, helping him make enough money to begin building a house for his mother.
“I started off as a rapper, and through rap, I’ve met people like Okyeame Kwame and other prominent people that I usually wouldn’t have been able to meet as a young person. Through singing too, I’ve made money that I’m currently using to build for my mum. But I haven’t switched,” he said.
Amerado further stressed that he should not be sidelined from rap award categories simply because he explores other genres.
He believes he should not be boxed into only rap, but rather recognized as a versatile artiste capable of excelling in rap, highlife, reggae, and other styles of music.
“I am a singer, rapper, and reggae artiste, and I should be described as such,” he added.
The rapper also noted that being excluded from rap award categories feels like a punishment, insisting that he has proven himself in both rap and singing and should be acknowledged for his versatility rather than criticized for it.
