Ghanaian actress and fashion icon Nana Akua Addo has opened up about her Nigerian roots, revealing that her mother met her father in Nigeria before relocating to Ghana while pregnant with her.

Speaking during a discussion on United Showbiz on May 16, 2026, Nana Akua Addo disclosed that although many Nigerians believe she is one of their own, she does not like to speak extensively about her paternity.

“My mum met my dad in Nigeria. She got pregnant there and later brought me to Ghana. My paternity issues are not something I would want to talk much about,” she said.

The fashion model noted that her connection to Nigeria has led many people in the country to assume she is Nigerian, although she spends most of her time in Ghana.

“Most Nigerians think I’m a Nigerian and they can’t also pronounce my name well. I spend most of my time in Ghana. I only go to Nigeria when it’s time for the AMVCA and I spend only two to three days there because of my children’s education,” she stated.

Nana Akua Addo also shed light on how she prepares for her much-talked-about red carpet appearances, especially at the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCAs).

According to her, she rarely attends physical fittings with designers, relying instead on virtual consultations.

“All the dresses the designer sewed for me, I didn’t do fitting. All the outfits I buy from all my international designers, I don’t do fittings. It’s always virtual, like a Zoom video call, then they will take the measurements,” she added.
