For years, Richie Mensah has been known as the producer, artist, and entrepreneur behind Lynx Entertainment, one of Ghana’s most influential music labels.
However, during a recent appearance on the Masterminds podcast, Mensah revealed that his move into audio electronics was not a sudden decision, but part of a long-standing personal interest in technology and sound.
Speaking about his early years, he explained that before fully pursuing music, he was deeply interested in science, research, and engineering.
“I loved doing research and experiments. I would open up my deck just to see how it worked,” he said, while reflecting on how he once considered becoming a surgeon.
According to Mensah, that curiosity eventually led him to sound engineering, which he described as “the science of music.” His latest venture, Lynx Electronics, appears to build on that long-standing interest.
After spending more than two decades producing music and shaping the sound of Ghanaian pop culture, Mensah said the transition into audio technology feels like a natural progression rather than a career change.
“We’ve gone from being the people who made the music to the people making the way you enjoy the music,” he said during the interview.
The conversation also highlighted a major transition for Lynx Entertainment. Mensah announced that the company has officially stepped away from artist management and is now focused on music distribution, supporting hundreds of artists. At the same time, his personal attention is shifting toward Lynx Electronics.
Another notable moment from the interview was Mensah speaking about a personal goal he set years ago.
“I promised myself that when I turned 40, I was going to retire from music,” he said.
Now at 40, he appears to be entering a new phase focused less on producing songs and more on developing audio experiences and technology products.
The company has already introduced products such as the Lynx Reverb headphones and is preparing to launch additional speaker products, including the Lynx Octave.
What makes the transition notable is how closely it aligns with Mensah’s background and long-standing interest in the technical side of music production. From music executive to audio technology entrepreneur, his career appears to be entering a new chapter shaped by sound, technology, and innovation.
