Popular Ghanaian media personality Ohemaa Woyeje has broken her silence on the circumstances that led to her resignation from Multimedia Group Limited in January 2019.

According to her, a difficult pregnancy experience combined with what she described as unexplained changes to her role at the company made her departure unavoidable.

Speaking in an interview with MzGee, Woyeje said the trouble began after she returned to Ghana while pregnant and expected to resume work as normal, only to find that her working conditions had changed in ways she had never experienced during her years at the station.

"It had not happened over the years," she said of the developments that greeted her return.

Her programme was subsequently taken off air without explanation, leaving her in a prolonged state of uncertainty that she said quickly became overwhelming.

"Pregnant, frustrated, show taken from you, nobody telling you anything, back and forth," she recalled.

She added that the situation was made more difficult by the rumours that had previously circulated, claiming she was unable to conceive. The pregnancy, she noted, became its own answer to those claims.

With her health now a concern, Woyeje said doctors warned her against stress and its potential complications during the pregnancy.

She informed management of her condition in the hope that it would be taken into account, but said their response fell short of what she needed.

"That never happened," she said.

Left with no resolution and her health at risk, she tendered her resignation in late January 2019.

"I had to resign to be able to be safe myself and have my baby," she said.

She gave birth in June 2019, bringing to an end what she described as one of the most physically and emotionally draining periods of her life.

Woyeje was emphatic that her exit had nothing to do with her performance, pointing to her track record before and after leaving Multimedia as evidence.

"If you ask me what I did wrong, I cannot say it," she said.
