Ghanaian afrobeats musician Kojo Blak has defended his decision to choose secular music for his career over gospel, despite the fact that he has a deep faith in God.
When asked in an interview on Joy Prime on May 15, 2026, why he opted for afrobeats over gospel, the musician went straight to the Bible.
"The Bible says that there's nothing new under the sun. God does his things in different ways. He says, 'in the midst of drunkards, I make myself a drunkard.' In the midst of wee-smokers, he makes himself…" Kojo Blak said.

According to the musician, the genre he operates in is not in conflict with his faith, because his music is about love, and love, he argues, is divine.
"The fact that I'm here doing love music, love is God. The Bible says anybody who does not know love does not know God. So, I don't think I'm doing anything wrong," he stated.
He then pointed to the Biblical figure to make the case.
"Even King Solomon, he wrote the Song of Solomon and he wrote about breasts and all that. If he wasn't inspired by the Holy Spirit, it wouldn't be in the Bible," Kojo Blak argued.
