Veteran Kumawood actor, Agya Koo, has clashed with a former NPP financier, Dr George Oti Bonsu, over ownership claims surrounding a newly formed political party known as the “Base Movement,” with the latter insisting that the actor is not on his level.

In a video that has gone viral on social media and was sighted by GhanaWeb on May 3, 2026, the two, who appeared on Lawson TV on separate occasions, traded a series of allegations.

In the footage, Dr Oti Bonsu is heard stating that a political party is not established based on popularity but on ideology.

He further asserted that the veteran actor has not reached his level and hence would refrain from engaging him in a debate on the matter.

Responding to the remarks, Agya Koo dismissed the comments, accusing Dr Oti Bonsu of engaging in damage control.

“He’s doing damage control, and I anticipated that we would go to any lengths to challenge us. He said I am not at his level. Do you stay in a hotel to form a political party, or do you think we are forming a fan club?

“I have been in the industry for some time now, so I know what he wants to do,” he said.

The exchange comes on the back of recent legal disputes between the two, with Dr Oti Bonsu claiming he founded the Base Movement and linking its origins to his role as a fundraising chairman for Kennedy Agyapong.

However, Agya Koo has refuted the claim, insisting that he was the first to register the political party.
