President of the Foundation of Concerned Arts Professionals (FOCAP), Kojo Preko Dankwa, has raised concerns over what he describes as a lack of accountability from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
Speaking during a discussion on Onua FM on April 27, 2026, he criticised the absence of updates from the sector minister, Dzifa Gomashie.
According to him, the government had introduced an accountability initiative where ministers were expected to brief the public on their performance, yet the creative arts sector appears to have been left out.
“The government brought an agenda to say he’s doing an accountability series, where he was bringing ministers upon ministers. For a whole year, we have gone through all the sectors our ministry has served,” he said.
Kojo Preko continued, “We have not seen Dzifa Gomashie go to the accountability series at the Flagstaff House to update the public on what her ministry has accomplished.”

He further noted that beyond the accountability series, the ministry has also failed to directly engage stakeholders and the general public through other means.
“Not even a single press conference has been held by Dzifa Gomashie and the ministry to Ghanaians and ordinary creatives. There hasn’t been any stakeholder meeting at the National Theatre or even the Ministry of Information,” he stated.
Kojo Preko stressed the need for transparency, urging the minister to communicate clearly about the state of the sector, including what she inherited and what progress has been made.
“She should be able to explain what’s currently happening in the sector and what was already in place when she assumed office,” he added.
