Prophet Kumchacha has added his voice to the ongoing national debate sparked by a viral video in which a church member accused the leadership of extorting money from congregants through tithing.
Speaking on United Showbiz on April 25, 2026, the outspoken preacher highlighted how certain churches have failed to prioritize the genuine concerns of their members.
According to him, some churches in Ghana are being run like franchises, with their primary focus on accumulating wealth rather than serving the spiritual and social needs of their congregations.

“There is one dangerous thing staring us in the face, and it’s the fact that when some of these pastors finish Bible school, they end up opening churches and naming them after bigger and well-known churches.
“They are then given a target, and if they fail to meet that amount, the bigger churches will stop them from using their name,” he said.
Prophet Kumchacha also alleged that some churches even transfer pastors to rural communities when they fail to meet their targets.
“There are some churches that set tithing and offering targets for their branch pastors to meet, and if they fail to meet them, they are transferred to rural areas to preach. Most times, such pastors are given about 20 members to take care of, and their branches are handed over to pastors in the cities who are capable of meeting those targets,” he added.
