Talented Ghanaian Afrobeats singer Olivetheboy has opened up about his exit from international label, Columbia Records.

Speaking in an interview with Angel FM, the “Asylum” hitmaker explained that although his deal with Columbia has ended, he is not fully independent, as he remains signed to his local label, Vampire.

Olivetheboy emphasized that his departure from Columbia Records was both peaceful and mutual, with no bad blood between both parties.

He also revealed that he still retains ownership of his image.

He credited the smooth nature of the deal to Vampire, noting that the team ensured he fully understood the terms before signing.

“I’m no longer with Columbia. We worked together for two years, and the contract ended this year. But I’m not an independent artiste. Before Columbia, I was with Vampire, and I’m still with them.

“I still own my image. I’m always grateful that I met Vampire and people who had knowledge in contracts and labels. They made sure I didn’t sign anything that would negatively affect me, although international labels always find a way to squeeze your hands,” he said.

Olivetheboy added that, if given another opportunity, he would still consider signing an international deal, as the experience ultimately worked well for him.
