Renowned Ghanaian sound engineer and record producer, Ball J Beats, has disclosed how cake infused with weed destroyed his career, noting the extent he had to go to relieve himself.
In an interview on Asempa FM, the sound engineer disclosed that it all began when he took a cake while at a party, and unknowingly, it was infused with weed.
He said that after eating the cake, it boosted his creativity, which led him to try it again, and this time it didn’t go well.
“It was a sudden breakdown. I took some weed cake, and I vanished from the industry. Weed boosted my meditation by producing sounds. I had a bite of the cake, and I lost myself, but the feeling was good; that is how I made the beat for ‘Let me do my thing’.
"After that, I was at a party; it was a music video for one of my artistes and they shared the cake again. Meanwhile, I was thinking it was the same small touch again. I didn’t even know I had taken weed, so I didn’t know when I got high, but I knew I wasn’t ok,” he disclosed.
Don’t rely solely on social media - Ball J admonishes artistes
Ball J added that he experienced a hallucination that felt like being locked away for a hundred years, although in reality it lasted only four hours.
“I was hospitalised. I was in a place for like a hundred years; that is what they call hallucination, and the feeling was like a hundred years. It was as if I was locked in a room that was set on fire, I could see the outside world very happy, and I was the only carry all the burdens of the world,” he recounted.
He said it took the timely intervention of his wife and a close friend, who took him to the hospital and saved him from almost losing his sanity.
“I thank God for my wife. I called my wife and Malik Ofori, they came to pick me up in Dampong. Even at the hospital, I was seeing the nurses like ants. They injected and that was how I came back to myself,” he narrated.
