Actress Kalsoume Sinare starts ambassadorial duties in Spain

Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain, Kalsoume Sinare, has officially commenced her diplomatic duties after presenting her Letters of Credence in Spain.

The ambassador shared the update in a Facebook post on Monday, April 13, 2026, following a meeting with the Director-General of Protocol of the Kingdom of Spain, Adriàn Martin Couce.

In her post, she expressed honour at the opportunity and readiness to serve in her new role.

“Honoured to present my Letters of Credence and Letter of Recall to H.E. the Director-General of Protocol of the Kingdom of Spain.

“This marks the official start of my duties as Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain, and I look forward to strengthening the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two nations. Excited for the journey ahead,” she stated.

She also expressed gratitude to her supporters, particularly colleagues from the creative industry.

“Thank you all for your prayers and support, especially my colleagues in the industry,” she added.

Kalsoume Sinare was sworn in as Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain by President John Dramani Mahama on March 17, 2026, at the Jubilee House.

The ceremony was attended by notable figures, including actress Jackie Appiah, Samira Yakubu, Jackie Appiah’s son Damien, Sinare’s husband Anthony Baffoe, and the Chief Executive Officer of Afrikiko.

Her appointment was first announced on June 21, 2025, as part of a list of 15 diplomatic appointments signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr Callistus Mahama.

Kalsoume Sinare is a well-known figure in Ghana’s film industry, having risen to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s. She is known for her roles in films such as Out of Sight, Crossfire, Ties That Bind, and Trinity.

Over the years, she has received several accolades, including recognition at the Ghana Movie Awards and the Golden Movie Awards Africa in 2021 for her contribution to the creative arts industry.

Beyond acting, she has worked as a producer and has been actively involved in advocacy, focusing on women’s empowerment, education, youth development, and gender equality.

Academically, she holds a diploma in Theatre Arts from the University of Ghana, a bachelor’s degree in Public Service and Governance, and a master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.
