Gomoa Easter Carnival structured to be free of politics — A-Plus

MP for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has explained that the just-ended Gomoa Easter Carnival was deliberately designed to remain free of political influence, even beyond his tenure in office.

Speaking on United Showbiz, A-Plus noted that the event involved planning by capable individuals from diverse political backgrounds.

However, he explained that their political affiliations did not reflect in the carnival, as it was organised solely for the people of Gomoa.

“We have on board the former GTA boss, Kwesi Agyeman, who is NPP. Nabill is part of it, Bullgod is part of it, and others are all involved. But we do not mind our political backgrounds,” he said.

He further stressed that his political ambition is rooted in service to his people, adding that if the time comes for them to vote him out of power, he would gladly step aside.

Nonetheless, he said the Gomoa Easter Carnival would continue to exist as a cultural event for the community.

“I’m planning it in a way that if tomorrow I’m no longer the MP, whoever comes next can hold it well and not neglect it. That is why I don’t want it tied solely to me,” he explained.

In a humorous aside, A-Plus stated that the role of an MP is to serve the people, and any MP who refuses to step down when the people demand it is “a thief.”
