Music executive and Media Excel CEO, Ernest Kwesi Ennin, has called on authorities to construct airstrips and helicopter landing areas at major event destinations across Ghana to ease the movement of performers and revellers during festive seasons.
Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime, he argued that the rapid growth of simultaneous large-scale events across the country has created logistical problems for the creative industry.
"Next year, for example, if Kwahu is on a big scale, and Gomoa is also on a big scale, and Kumasi is also on a big scale, how are our creatives going to manoeuvre themselves travelling within the country?
"We need to create avenues like airstrips and helicopter landing areas for both guests and performing creatives," he said.
Kwesi Ernerst emphasised the importance of protecting the welfare of performing artistes, proposing helicopter arrangements that could transport creatives between venues within hours.
"We need to safeguard our creative people, such that if they perform at Kwahu, in two hours they can be at Gomoa," he said.
He suggested that the absence of such infrastructure already impacted this year's Kwahu Easter festivities, with top artistes gravitating toward Kwame A Plus's Gomoa event instead due to the travel challenges performers faced navigating multiple engagements across the country.
