Ghanaian musician Ice King of Aburi, formerly known as DJ Azonto, has publicly accused celebrated rapper Sarkodie of attempting to hijack his brand identity.

Sarkodie has been dominating the airwaves in recent times, particularly with videos of his Azonto dance moves, which have sent social media into a frenzy, with fans and content creators recreating the popular dance.

Ice King of Aburi, the controversial artiste who built his career around the Azonto movement, claims that the “Azonto” brand belongs to him and insists that no individual regardless of status—has the right to use it without his consent.

The music sensation expressed deep frustration over what he believes is a deliberate attempt by Sarkodie to overshadow and appropriate his brand.

“Azonto is my name, my sweat, my identity. Anybody who wants to use it must seek approval from me. No shortcuts,” he asserted in a recent interview.

Ice King disclosed that he is seeking legal advice to protect what he describes as his intellectual property, hinting at possible legal action should the matter escalate.

He has also taken the battle to the studio. He has released a diss track titled “Fa Ma Omo”, a hard-hitting response aimed squarely at Sarkodie.

In the song, Ice King of Aburi takes a direct swipe at the rap icon while demonstrating his confidence and musical flair, reaffirming his claim to ownership of the Azonto brand.
