Popular Highlife singer Fameye has revealed that he actively sought a nomination for 'Artiste of the Year' at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards, but says he bears no ill feelings after failing to make the list.
Speaking on TV3 on April 8, the 'Nothing I Get' hitmaker explained that he put himself forward, hoping for at least a nomination, believing his output matched the standard of nominees.
"I filed for it. I was looking for a win or at least a nomination. I felt that the work they did to be able to get onto the list, I also worked that hard. But I'm not hurt that I wasn't nominated," he said.

Fameye then turned his focus to the nominees in that category and heaped praises on Wendy Shay.
"Wendy Shay has done well and worked very hard. I have been on shows with her. She's been going toe-to-toe with the men in this industry for a long time. She has worked incredibly hard and absolutely deserves an Artist of the Year nomination," he said.
Fameye concluded that all the nominated acts had earned their spots, adding, "all those who were nominated deserve it."
Wendy Shay was nominated for the category for the first time alongside 'old-timers', including Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, and Diana Hamilton.
