Deputy Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, has described the Heritage Lunch initiative as a practical vehicle for job creation, entrepreneurship, and community-based tourism in Ghana.
Speaking at the launch of the initiative in Accra, the Deputy Minister said such programmes directly support livelihoods and promote pride in Ghana's cultural identity.
"The Heritage Lunch contributes directly to livelihood enhancement and community-based tourism initiatives that support job creation, encourage entrepreneurship, strengthen local supply chains, and promote pride in our cultural identity," she said.
She reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to collaborating with traditional authorities, metropolitan, municipal, and district assemblies, and community stakeholders to drive initiatives that empower people and deepen participation in local governance and development.
"Development becomes truly meaningful when it touches the lives of ordinary people and creates opportunities for communities to thrive," she said.
Sowah described the Heritage Lunch as a strong example of how private sector innovation and community collaboration can be harnessed to advance culture, support livelihoods, and grow tourism.
She called on stakeholders across the country to embrace similar initiatives that align economic development with cultural preservation.
