The organisers of the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) have announced nominees for the Best Group of the Year category, bringing relief to some music groups and industry stakeholders who had raised concerns over the category's initial absence from the nominations list.
The four acts in contention are Soul Winners, Lali x Lola, Keche, and Bethel Revival Choir.
Since the initial nominees' announcement earlier in March 2026, former winners Keche, made up of Andrew Kofi Cudjoe and Joshua Kojo Ampah, had reacted publicly on X, questioning why they were invited to the nominations event but ultimately received no recognition, with the group suggesting possible bias in the awards system.

Lali x Lola, meanwhile, went a step further by formally petitioning the TGMA board. The duo argued that the absence of the category could inadvertently contribute to the very challenge it seeks to address: the limited number of active and competitive music groups in Ghana.
Their appeal drew support from industry stakeholders who pointed to the resurgence of music groups such as DopeNation, Keche, Team Eternity, and Bhad Mayors, urging the TGMA Board to reconsider its decision.
The organisers have since responded to the pressure, with the nominees now officially confirmed.
The main awards ceremony of the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards is scheduled for May 9, 2026.
