Three-time Grammy Award-winning Jamaican-American reggae star Gramps Morgan has been enstooled as a Development Chief of the Ga State during a ceremony held in Accra.
The symbolic crowning took place on March 31, 2026, upon his arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, where he was warmly received by traditional leaders and officials.
In a video circulating on social media, the reggae icon was seen dressed in traditional Ga attire, smiling as he was officially introduced and given the stool name “Nii Oyeni Mp3s3 I,” signifying his new role within the Ga traditional authority.

The honour was conferred by the Ga Traditional Council, recognising his contributions to cultural exchange and his growing ties to Ghana.
Gramps Morgan is currently in the country ahead of the launch of the Ghana-Jamaica Homecoming Festival 2026, an initiative aimed at strengthening cultural and economic connections between Ghana and the Caribbean.
His enstoolment adds to a growing list of international creatives being honoured by traditional authorities in Ghana, joining Michael Jai White, MrBeast, and Popcaan.
