Former Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has expressed his desire to meet popular dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and shared some questions he would ask the artiste.

In an interview with Hitz FM on March 25, 2026, when asked about artistes he is familiar with, Dr Adutwum expressed admiration for top dancehall acts Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, noting that they command a massive following among the youth in Ghana.

"The young people either go to the BHIM Nation camp or go to the movement, and if you take a look at it, they make them believe in something, and the young people love them," he stated.

He added that he is yet to meet Shatta Wale and had only seen him at a distance.

When asked what he would ask the ‘My Level’ singer should they meet, Dr Adutwum stated, “I’m going to say, 'Hey, what makes you sing this way? What is your motivation? And how would you help us create 50 more Shatta Wales?”

Explaining the motive for such a question, Dr Adutwum, who is the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe in the Ashanti Region, shared a dream he had of raising 100 engineers from his constituency

“In my constituency, I decided that I want to be visited by 100 engineers when I’m old. And I said, 'If I leave this to evolution, and there's no revolution, I will never have this opportunity.' It may never happen.

“So I decided to create them. I recruited kids out of high school and put them in engineering schools. As I speak, I have 93 engineers whose fees I fully paid, and the accommodation catered for, I raised funds from the US and from here. I was able to do that. By next year, I'll have 100 engineers,” he said.

Dr Adutwum noted that if Shatta Wale were to embark on a similar venture, it would be possible to have 50 musicians who command the same level of influence by the time he is old.

“If we want to create 50 Shatta Wales, we can do it. By the time he retires and there are 50 Shatta Wale’s in the system, they will come and sing for him and give him a wonderful birthday,” he envisioned.
