Dr Frank Amoakohene hasn't done anything exceptional - Agya Koo

Veteran actor Agya Koo has stated that he has not seen any contributions by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, to the creative industry or the country as a whole.

Speaking in an interview on Nashbaff Media aired on March 24, 2026, the actor addressed why he has not been present at events organised by the Regional Minister to engage creatives in the Ashanti Region.

According to him, he has not received any invitations under the current administration, adding that some people believe his presence could shift attention away from the purpose of such events.

Agya Koo explained that his stance is not politically driven, stressing that he is always willing to acknowledge and support any initiative that benefits the country, regardless of which government is in power.

He referenced a film school project by former President Nana Akufo-Addo in Kwadaso, noting that he publicly supported it because he considered it a positive move.

He further noted that his absence from events organised by the Minister means he cannot assess the work being done.

“People think bringing Agya Koo will shift attention from their event, but that’s not necessary. I don’t need to meet Dr Frank Amoakohene before supporting anything that benefits the country. If there’s something good to be done, I’ll support it on my own.

“When Akufo-Addo built the film school, I saw it as a positive move and spoke about it so people would take notice. Whoever is in power, if they do something that will help the next generation, I will also speak up and support it.

“I haven’t attended any of Dr Frank Amoakohene’s events, so I can’t speak on what he is doing,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Region, under the leadership of Dr Frank Amoakohene, launched AshantiFest 2026 in March 2026.

Authorities have positioned the festival as a strategic initiative aimed at driving economic growth, promoting youth empowerment, and boosting tourism in the region.
