The injunction case concerning Daddy Lumba’s 'Celebration of Life' event, organized by the late singer’s maternal family and spouse, has been adjourned to April 23, 2026.
Speaking to the media after proceedings at the Accra High Court on March 25, 2026, the family’s lawyer said they would have to wait and see what unfolds between March 25 and March 26 when asked whether the adjournment could affect the planned date of the event.
According to him, while the court views the gathering as a second funeral, the family insists it is a celebration of a legend, a husband, and a brother, contrary to the court’s perception.

“Let’s see what happens between today and tomorrow. The law recognizes that people may agree or disagree with a judge. That’s why a single judge sits on High Court cases, three judges at the Court of Appeal, and more than five at the Supreme Court. It means one judge can make a mistake, and if you disagree with a ruling, you have the right to appeal. So everything will depend on what happens today or tomorrow,” he noted.
Musician-turned-preacher and close associate of the late Daddy Lumba, Evangelist Papa Shee, announced a ‘Celebration of Life’ ceremony in honour of the late legendary musician, scheduled to take place on March 28 and 29, 2026, in Accra at Independence Square.
He explained that the gathering is not a funeral but a celebration of the life and legacy of Daddy Lumba.
However, the late singer’s family head, Kofi Owusu, filed an injunction application at the Accra High Court against the celebration of life event.
