Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe officially sworn in as Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain

President John Dramani Mahama has officially sworn in actress Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe as Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain.

The ceremony, held on March 17, 2026, at the Jubilee House, marks her formal commissioning for the diplomatic role.

The ceremony was attended by actress Jackie Appiah, Samira Yakubu, Jackie’s son Damien, husband of Kalsoume Anthony Baffoe, as well as the CEO of Afrikiko.

Kalsoume Sinare’s appointment was first announced on June 21, 2025, in a list of 15 diplomatic appointments signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama.

The list covered various positions, including ambassadors, high commissioners, and a consul-general designate, all tasked with representing Ghana’s interests abroad.

She brings years of experience in film, media, and public engagement into her new role. Kalsoume gained prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s and is known for her performances in movies such as Out of Sight, Crossfire, Ties That Bind, and Trinity.

Over the years, she has received several recognitions, including awards at the Ghana Movie Awards, as well as recognition for her contribution to the creative arts industry.

In 2021, she was honoured at the Golden Movie Awards Africa for her lasting impact on the sector.

Kalsoume Sinare has also worked as a producer and has been actively involved in advocacy, particularly in areas such as women’s empowerment and the growth of the creative arts industry.

She has consistently used her influence to support conversations around education, youth development, and gender equality.

Academically, she has built a solid background to complement her new diplomatic role. She holds a diploma in Theatre Arts from the University of Ghana.

She later earned a bachelor’s degree in Public Service and Governance in 2021, followed by a master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.
