The first song on the album "Makoma", was a hit in Ghana during its release and was popularly known as "Run run some things". This song featured they lyrical genius of the trio: Praye. Enough said, below is the music video for your enjoyment:

K.K. Fosu graces the next track with his smooth, silky voice. "Kameshi" literally translates to help keep me warm. The D-Style man sings about how he wants his lover to come keep his cold body warm. This really great track on the compilation is well worth a listen:

KAMESHI

Something quite interesting happens with the next two tracks on the album. The first one by Wutah is called "Esikyire" and the one after that is "Sugar", performed by Lucky Mensah. Esikyire is the Twi word for sugar. Both songs speak about the sweetness of a woman ... the toffee of my heart, my honey ... these are a few of the odes that are used to describe the love that embalms these songsters.

One of my favorite highlife singers, Adane Best floors the next track with his Ga lyrics. Juliana is a fast paced love song that only listening can do justice to. Julie speaks about how true love has been lost and the world only seeks ephemeral, self-gratifying love:

JULIE

The album as already mentioned is chuck full of great talent and lovely music. 5five with For Better For Worse and Kofi B. with Adwoa are a few of such others. The Hiplife ninja Sidney "damages" the last track of this post; "Na Eshemu". In typical Sidney fashion, Sidney sings about how times are hard and getting harder ... but depending on how "wild" you are ... you can definitely make it. At the same time, there will be those whose connections will fall through:

NA ESHEMU

Make sure to check out iTunes for both Appietus Compilation I and II. You will not regret it!!
