X-Ray (Ghana’s Cassidy) yaps about been the next Lil Wayne in Ghana

X-Ray’s first contact with rap music was listening to veteran Ghanaian musician, Gyedu Blay Ambolley whom he credits as his earliest influence. X-Ray began rapping in the hood back in the states but is now letting his voice heard on mix tapes.

He is gradually growing to become a critical favourite, known especially for his entertaining lyrics, now his peeps call him Ghana’s Cassidy.

He wants his debut album to signal a change in the direction of ‘our one way hip life music’.

This week on 1 on 1, Ghana Music.com’s radar fell on X-Ray, a dexterous freestyle rapper who claims he is real and can see through the music industry and can pin point out the real and fake musicians.

X-Ray stated to as that his favourite rappers are Castro, Batman Samini, Obrafour, Jay-Z, Cassidy and Lil Wayne.

It should be known that X-Ray doesn’t rap about love, sex and other issues, unlike other rappers who think that’s the order of the day, he raps about real issues.

The best description I could give to X-Ray is that he has clever rhymes, his voice is confident, exhibits more skills on adult subjects.

With no album yet under his blinged-up belt, read more about X-Ray also known as Cassi-Wayne.

Ghana Music.com: So what’s a typical day in the studio with you like? Do you sit at home and write rhymes and then your beat maker hollers at you and you go down to the studio?

X-Ray: A typical day with me in the studio is like been in the studio with an all-time-hit-maker because you know your whole album gone sell. And I don’t sit down and write rhymes before I holla at ma beat maker; I write when I hear the beat so I could flow with it perfect and not be off-beat.

Ghana Music.com: How does your music differ from joints in the states?

X-Ray: My music differs from joints in the states because I rap like no other Ghanaian ever. I come with catchy choruses and crazy verses with sick-punch-lines that no other rapper could think of.

Ghana Music.com: What’s the best rhyme you ever spit?

X-Ray: Lol, I don’t even know because every time I spit its fire. I’m something like a dragon. (Check him drop a few lines) - //Me flow supplyi electricity tsise Lampo//Obiaa nim se X-Ray me dropi bombs tsise Rambo//Entsi me wu koraa still mey gyina tsise Santo//. People ain’t heard anything yet. This is just a tip of the ice-berg.

Ghana Music.com: What do you think of Lil Wayne? Can there ever be one in Ghana or a Ghanaian hip life/hip-hop like him?

X-Ray: Hmm, I think Lil is a very very great rapper, his punch-lines is always shocking and you got to take them into thinking before you can understand most of them. But the funny thing is I prefer Cassidy over Lil Wayne because he’s my favourite rapper and my people gave me this other nickname “Ghana’s Cassidy”. And if there’s going to be any Lil Wayne too in Ghana I’m the same person. So people might as well call me “Cassia-Wayne”.

Ghana Music.com: I want you to address how long you been in the game and also briefly discuss your history in the industry?

X-Ray: I ain’t been in the game for long but I have been rapping since forever. I was introduced to this world by my precious parents, Mr. Batiscan Adu and Mrs. Leticia Asuamah. I was born and raised in Takoradi and have been in the U.S. for almost 6yrs now. I’ve always lived the American life since I was in Ghana but never forgot my culture neither my history. My industry history is unbelievable because every song I come out with is a hit.

Ghana Music.com: Why do you wanna be the baddest kasaharalist Ghana has ever experienced?

X-Ray: If you look really well in the hip life game, these artistes that call themselves rappers ain’t rapping but rather singing like some mocking-birds. They rap without rhyming neither using punch-lines. I think they’re all doing the same thing by stealing other artiste’s style and not being themselves. And also hip life is one-way now the beat, the lyrics, style, and even the topics they talk about. If it’s not about love, its sad sadness, heart-break and all sort of topics that I’m tired of hearing. So I’m here to show them the real rap, real lyrics, real style and being myself. .I’m just me, myself and I.

Ghana Music.com: Who are some of the emcees you draw influences from?

X-Ray: Some emcees I draw my attention from are Castro, Batman Samini, Obrafour, Jay-Z, Cassidy and Lil Wayne.

Ghana Music.com: Can you discuss why you picked your showbiz name?

X-Ray: I picked my showbiz name because I got the x-ray-vision. I see through fake people.

Ghana Music.com: So, can you discuss the underground scene in your hood and how you are going to be known?

X-Ray: The under-ground scene in the hood is going great because I’m getting noticed more and more everyday. Am getting noticed with my catchy choruses, crazy verses and sick punch-lines I use.

Ghana Music.com: What can we expect from the album as far features, producers, what’s your favourite song and why?

X-Ray: The album is just going to be something like a suicide bomb when it drops. Right now, I do lots of mix tapes with crazy freestyles. If you wanna see my true colours catch me on them to which I don’t have a favourite song. My songs talks about real issues and not just songs you could “sakuaba” with. My album is going to be produced and people like Appietus, Sugar Tone, Jay Q, MC Hammer and all the good-hard-working-producers.

Ghana Music.com: What do you have planned for the future?

X-Ray: My plans for the future is to just change the one-way hip life game.

Ghana Music.com: If you weren’t rapping, what would you be doing?

X-Ray: I would be producing music. I’m going college next year and I’m going to study Business accounting and graphic designs.

Ghana Music.com: What’s that something you offer that fans can only get from you?

X-Ray: That something I offer to my fans that they can’t get from no other artiste is my uniqueness.

Ghana Music.com: What was the first rap song you ever heard?

X-Ray: The 1st rap song I ever heard was from Gyedu Blay Ambolley “Me do me maame ne coal-pot ase”. I know a lot of people Reggie brought rap but I don’t believe it. K. K. brought rap to Ghana and Reggie just modernized it with the American hip-hop style. A lot of these youngsters that call themselves hip life rappers don’t even know about and it’s a very big shame.

Ghana Music.com: Shout outs

X-Ray: This is the part I really like. Yea, I got finals words like someone who’s about to get executed.
