Kwaebibirem holds cultural festival

Kade(E/R), July 13, GNA - A cultural festival has been held at Kade during which the people were encouraged to be hold on to their cultural heritage.

As part of the festival there was an exhibition of herbal drugs and dresses made by local fashion designers. The festival was organized by the Kwaebibirem Centre for National Culture and as part of it there was a demonstration about the correct ways of putting on the traditional cloth. The Easter Regional Director for National Culture, Mr Francis Kingsley Obeng, said all the 21 districts of the region would be organizing the festival prior to a regional cultural festival to be held in Koforidua in September. He said a national cultural festival had been billed for November in Tamale.

The Kwaebibirem District Chief Executive, Mr George Agyemang Dua, appealed to chiefs to teach their people culture and cautioned against cultural adulteration which had been the result of blindly copying foreign cultures.
