Duncan Wins a Brand New VW Polo in a Silverbird Promotion

Accra, January 5, 2010 - William Jesse Duncan, 18-year old graduate of Akosombo International Senior High School is the lucky winner of the top prize in the just-ended Silverbird Ghana’s First Anniversary promotions.

In a grand raffle draw supervised by Gaming Commission before a number of guests including partners, sponsors and the press, young William Duncan emerged the top prize winner when his name and number were read out live to the audience in the grand raffle draw held at Silverbird. Mr. Albert Mensah, General Manager of Silverbird Ghana immediately called William and broke the good news. Excited and shocked, William couldn’t say anything as he only kept screaming with joy. Silverbird Entertainment Ghana Limited was one year old on November 14, 2009 and has been marking the first anniversary with a number of packages and events to reward its customers. The months of November and December were set aside to reward customers with a lot of prizes including the VW Polo as the top prize. Customers were made to enter their contact details on any movie tickets they bought or on tickets for any items they bought in the Lifestyle store to qualify for an entry into the grand raffle draw. William is only one of the numerous people who visit Silverbird for great movies and quality entertainment products in the Silverbird Lifestyle store. In the months of the promotion, William visited the Lifestyle store with his mother and two little brothers to shop for some entertainment items. “We bought a lot of books and games including a comic book on Obama. After shopping for the items, I was in such a hurry to get home that I only stood by as my mum rushed through with the filling of the forms one each for me and my two brothers. We were done and that was the end, I never thought anything good would come out of it anyway. In fact, I never used to believe in any such promotions” says elated William. William Jesse Duncan, the eldest of three children (all boys) in the Duncan family has completed Senior High School at Akosombo International School where he read science. He has just gained admission into the Ghana Telecom University College to pursue a course in telecommunications.

William confirms “I couldn’t sleep for days ever since I had that phone call breaking the shocking news to me. How could it be that, after a great shopping experience, I would also be rewarded with something as big as a brand new VW Polo? But now, I have the keys to the car handed over to me in the full glare of my family, the press and the public. I just became a proud owner of a new car. Just like that!
