MTN presents prizes to GJA awardees

Accra, Nov. 3, GNA - MTN, in accordance with its pledge to promote quality journalism in the country, on Monday presented prizes to winners of various prizes in the 2007 Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards.

Ms Mawuena Dumor, Corporate Service Director, MTN, presented a Toshiba laptop to each of them at the Ghana International Press Centre. She said the company was committed to the promotion of excellence and skill development as part of its corporate social responsibility and would not relent on efforts to ensure the attainment of this objective. Ms Dumor congratulated the awardees and called on other journalists to work hard to attain media excellence in the years ahead. The recipients are: Innocent Appiah (The Ghanaian Times), Samuel Dowuona (Ghana News Agency), Lauretta Vanderpuije (GTV), John Vigah (The Ghanaian Times) - Sports Reporting and Nii Laryea Korle (The Mirror)-Arts/Entertainment/Domestic Tourism. The rest are Edward Nyarko (GTV)- Business/Finance/Economic Reporting; Clare Banoeng Yakubu (Ghana Broadcasting Corporation)-Health Reporting; Adisa Nuhubila Quansah of the Daily Graphic and Merari Alomele (The Spectator) - Best Features writer. Mr Bright Blewu, General Secretary, GJA, thanked the management of MTN for the support and reiterated the importance of quality journalism in the country. He called on journalists to begin gathering their materials, and file them as soon as the entries are opened for the next selection.
