Lord Commey snubs musicians

The timely intervention by Gabby Okyere Darko and John Boadu prevented Hiplife musicians who were invited to entertain the crowd before the NPP mammoth rally at the Takoradi Poly Park from abandoning the show. If they had not acted swiftly the outburst could have caused a nasty situation between the artistes and Lord Commey.

It all started when the musicians refused to join a live band stand erected far from the presidential podium. The musicians insisted that they perform on the main podium and this led to a little misunderstanding between Josh Laryea, Lord Commey on one side and the musicians led by A-Plus. In the ensuing debate Lord Commey snubbed the musicians, telling them to go away if they are not going to perform.

They saw this as disrespect and lack of recognition, something they have been fighting for, all this time. They argued that they have been with Nana since day one and they see no reason why they should be treated differently this time. Hell nearly broke loose with the musicians boycotting the program. They complained bitterly to Nana Ampadu who also joined in the campaign for right of the artists.

All efforts to cool the highly irritated musicians proved futile. It took the intervention and persuasion of John Boadu, Gabby Okyere Darko and Mr. Akwasi Agyemang of Global Media fame to persuade them to mount the podium to cheer up the crowd and it was magic. It was pure magic when they remounted the stage and urged the crowd on with accapella of some of their songs and the crowd went wild and frenzy. The behavior of Lord Commey was below the belt and he must be compelled to apologize to the musicians even though Gabby did that on his behalf.
