World Bank International Essay Competition 2008 launched

Accra, Feb. 14, GNA - The World Bank International Essay Competition for 2008 was launched for the youth aged 18 to 25 from all countries world over to share their ideas on development issues. The Competition with the topic: "What Can I do to Shape the City of Your Dreams?" and the fifth in the series would attract 5,000 dollar and 1,000 dollar awards.

According to an official statement copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday the Essays could be submitted in English, French, Spanish, and, for the first time, in Arabic and Portuguese. The competition for this year is being co-organised by the World Bank, the Cities Alliance and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The statement said as in previous years, it was implemented in partnership with the World Bank Public Information Centre, as well as external academic and civil society organizations working for and with the youth.

"Last year, 2,240 youth from 130 countries submitted essays on the subject of corruption and good governance. "Further information can be access on www. essaycompetition.org," it added.
