Yvonne Okoro To Quit Acting For Law School

Just as she was warming her way back into the movie industry after she went missing in action, to school in France, beautiful Ghanaian actress Yvonne Okoro has disclosed to peacefmonline.com that she will be taking a bow from acting again, to pursue her long cherished dream of becoming a lawyer.

Yvonne, is gradually becoming a favourite of many movie lovers (both male and female). She made the disclosure to peacefmonline.com, when we caught up with her at the Silversbird cinema over the weekend.

“I will be going back to school, may be in September this year. I am going to the law school but I am thinking of doing it in September or early next year. I am still thinking, but I am definitely going to the law school,” she emphasized.

Asked whether she will do the course here in Ghana or outside the country, she said “Well, I am still contemplating but I want to do it in Ghana”.

The sad news for people out there who admire Yvonne Okoro is that she is no longer going to act in movies once she enrolls in the law school; and even when she graduates and is called to the bar, she is going to practice as a full-time lawyer and say goodbye to acting.

“If I do the law, I want to focus on the law. I can’t combine the two; it’s too difficult. I already started taking some courses and I think it is too hectic for me to do both. There is no way my dad will even let me combine acting and law. So once I am done with the law school, it is goodbye to acting,” she disclosed.

Yvonne already has a long list of academic credentials. She started basic school at the Achimota School, and then went to the Lincoln Community School, after which she attended Faith Montessori School. She continued at Mfantsiman Senior High School in Cape Coast and later went to the University of Ghana where she studied English and Linguistics.

She travelled to France and enrolled in Universite de Norte where she studied French Civilization and Culture and also did a bit of Drama and Marketing along the line, all in France.

Yvonne born to a Nigerian father and a Ghanaian mother, is about to launch her first book on children. She told peacefmonline.com that the book is a kid’s story book, and it is just the first of a number of books she intends to author.

Asked what the title of the book is she said “It will be disclosed on the day of the launch, and that will be very soon.

The “Beyonce” actress has a passion for acting and has always done it as a hobby. She made her first appearance in 2002 when she featured in “Sticking to Promise”, and later in the soap opera “Tentacles”, both produced by Theo Akatugba.

Her real claim to fame was in “Beyonce” in which she played “Sierra”. She went on to do “Agony of Christ, “Royal Battle” and just recently “The Game” and “4Play”. She has in all featured in over 15 movies.

The next time you see Yvonne Okoro in a movie, watch her as much as you can, because that might be her last movie.
