Yvonne Nelson & Prince David Visit Kumasi

Star actress Yvonne Nelson and fellow actor Prince David Osei were over the weekend given a rousing welcome in Kumasi, where they took part in a student ceremony organized by the Opoku Ware and St. Louis Senior High Schools on Saturday.

The event was a 10-year Legacy Anniversary celebration of both Senior High Schools, which was also to celebrate the success of the two stars.

The choice of Yvonne and David was made through voting. The students had to vote for the artistes they wanted to come to the event and Yvonne and David, who are graduates of the Central University and University of Ghana respectively, got the highest votes.

They were at the ceremony together with Kumasi-based actress Nana Hayford, who also has a lot of fans across the country. The ‘Princess Tyra’ actress and Prince used the occasion to empower the students to take their education seriously, and reminded them that education was the key to success in any career they wanted to pursue.

They also spoke about their respective movie careers and told the students that whatever they did on the silver screens was just make-believe.

They however advised them not to emulate the negative aspects of the roles they played in movie but rather take the moral lesson in the movie. The two stars also granted autograph and photo sessions to the students.

Yvonne Nelson also used the platform to campaign against the deadly eye ailment, Glaucoma, educating about the disease and tasking the students to get themselves screened.

She also asked the students not to relent in their efforts to get to top, citing herself as an example. According to her, even though she failed in some subjects in her senior high school final examination, she didn’t give up, but rewrote those subjects before getting into the university.

Yvonne and Prince David Osei told Beatwaves'Beatwaves' on Sunday that they were humbled by the attention they were given at the programme. “It was quite an experience,” Yvonne simply said. She also revealed that she wanted to partner with an eye clinic to tour schools to campaign against Glaucoma. “I was so enthused. It was a lovely atmosphere. The students were calling me the Supremo. I least expected that. It was awesome,” Prince David described the whole show.
