Actress Lydia Forson has disclosed that some young actresses come into the vocation with bigger expectation because of the glitz and glam they see but the disappointment that greets them leads them to sell their bodies to men for wealth.

The actress made this known when she was speaking on the current state of the Ghana Movie Industry and the fact that although actors and actresses are not paid well, they are not broke and can afford a decent life.

She said “A lot of the young girls now come into the industry with false expectation.

That is why we see a lot of people who are not really interested in acting but they feel it’s a way to market yourself for men to buy you nice things. I’m not judging them in any way but we are more than just actors/actresses”.

The actress indicated that it is sad Ghanaians have an entrenched perception about actors and actresses and therefore expect them to live like paupers because they are not well paid.

She actress who admitted that the movie industry does not pay well but insisted actors and actresses are not broke said “When I say the industry is underpaid compared to other industries it is because I do believe that we should be paid more than we are being paid now.

It doesn’t mean we (actors/actresses) are broke and can’t afford anything. I do admit that the Ghana movie industry is relatively young, and it’s a struggle for every industry that is just starting from the beginning.”
