Ghanaian rapper, Yaw Tog, has disclosed how an unexpected series of events led to the creation of his EP, while crediting dancehall star Stonebwoy for motivating him to stay active in the music industry.
Speaking in an interview on Max TV on March 20, 2026, Yaw Tog stated that he initially had no intention of releasing an EP.
“Initially, I didn’t have any plans to drop my EP. I was in Europe, chilling and I met a friend who is also into music, but in Europe. He told me that we should drop something and I was like cool,” he said.
According to him, although he agreed to the idea at the time, he was not fully prepared to embark on such a project.
“For me, I wasn’t ready to drop any EP, but he said when I go back to Ghana, we should discuss it and I agreed. After that conversation, I went back home and started adding up my songs,” he shared.
The artiste further explained that upon his return to Ghana, he took steps to move the project forward.
It’s been a journey of ups and downs in my career – Yaw Tog
“When I got to Ghana, I called him and informed him that I’ve gotten the songs,” he said.
Yaw Tog also recounted how his connection with Stonebwoy contributed to the project’s development.
“I got another call from Stonebwoy to come home, to do a verse for him on his EP. That’s another way to get Stonebwoy on our EP, so it just happened,” he noted.
He continued, “I sent him my verse and that was the `Torcher' EP. Afterwards, I told him I had a song, so he should do something for me and he said no problem. The next day, he sent me his verse and it was crazy.”
Yaw Tog emphasised the impact Stonebwoy has had on his career, especially in terms of motivation and perseverance.
“Stonebwoy actually inspired me and advised me not to give up in this industry. The moment I relax and decide to stay calm, it wouldn’t work for me, so I need to fight. He’s been someone who has given me that motivation to actually go hard,” he added.
