Wrong body postures; the harm they cause

Many people take posture for granted till they begin to experience pain and discomfort before seeking remedy.

Slouching or sleeping in the foetal position, could prove costly in the end although it may seem harmless initially.

Posture is arrangement of the body and limbs while standing, sitting, walking or lying down. Experts say posture directly affects health.

When posture is bad, pressure on the spine is increased. This can lead to tension, soreness, headaches, back pain and fatigue.

Proper posture keeps muscles, ligaments, bones and internal organs in their natural position. This reduces wear and tear of joints, and relieves stress, improving health and enhancing appearance.

Founder and CEO of Chiropractic and Wellness Centre, Dr. Marcus Manns, says a good posture allows for better breathing, reduces fatigue and minimizes other side-effects associated with bad posture.

So next time you move your body, be mindful of the inherent harm.
