Fast growing Accra-based Frequency Modulation (FM) Radio Station, Atinka 104.7 has rolled out a program, (Wowo asaase anaa?) literally translated ‘Do you have a land’ aimed at addressing land related issues.

The acquisition of land and ownership in Ghana, undoubtedly, has become an endemic for majority of the citizenry since conflicts over land are a major problem to the management of lands in Ghana, hence the new program.

Interestingly, Government has no absolute control over lands in the country and as a result, traditional authorities and family heads take advantage to make land acquisition a very cumbersome and frustration venture.

Several experts have opined that our land tenure system seems not to only impede the development of the various sectors of the economy but land conflicts have directly and indirectly affected the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

What might have caused these preventable challenges, one may ask? Amongst the cardinal reasons obviously is the “lack of Knowledge syndrome” that surrounds most of the decisions innocent Ghanaians take in acquiring and owning a land.

Education on land acquisition and ownership has over the years eluded the citizenry and they fall prey to unscrupulous persons who parade themselves as land guards as well as some crooked individuals, family heads and traditional leaders.

It is on this backdrop that Opanyi Obuobi, an Estate Developer, in Collaboration with Atinka 104.7 FM, rolls out the citizens’ programme called “Wowo Asaase” literally meaning, “Do you have a land”.

The programme which airs from 7pm to 8pm every Wednesday, focuses on educating the public on reducing conflicts and land litigations in Ghana. It begins on Wednesday, August 1, 2018

More importantly, Opanyin Obuobi, will set the agenda and introduce a system that allows prospective land buyers to acquire lands through the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.

Opanyi Obuobi has an in-depth knowledge in Estate Development and Ghanaian land issues spanning several years. After working as surveyor with the Town and Country Planning over the years.

Opanyi Obuobi is a member of the Ghana Real Estate Development Association (GREDA). He brings to your door step pertinent issues confronting you and would help open your eyes to many things you have no idea of.

For instance, he believes that as a country, we do not only need proper structures but need proper coordination between institutions like Lands Commission, Local Government for that matter the assemblies, traditional leaders, Land Legal Departments, Town and Country Planning amongst others.

He also opens the public’s eye to the kinds of buildings that must be erected at specific areas or vantage points.

Members of the general public are, therefore, entreated to tune in to Atinka 104.7 FM every Wednesday between 7 pm and 8 pm and listen to “Wo W? Asaase?” to gain insight into proper acquisition of lands in the country.
